Thanks for posting the link. I don't have a Livejournal account so I don't go there, but it did clear things up for me. I haven't talked to anyone at FoS for so long so I didn't even know the site went down 'til almost a week ago. :\

Angel, just in case you didn't know, Idaten is the new admin of Fosff. She bought the site from Tsula a while back and has been progressively trying to fix constant bugs and errors that the sites had. She said that she also plans to bring back FictionZone (since she also bought that from Tsula) and plans to run both archives.
The only thing wrong on her part was that there was obviously no announcement for the sites downtime so all the mods are utterly confused and apparently haven't heard from her in a while. D:

As someone who has had experience with this, I can safely guess that what's happening is that Idaten probably tried to reupload the eFiction script (as per my suggestion) and she uploaded it to the wrong folder. Thus the error was completely accidental and unexpected, and she probably has no idea how to fix it and doesn't have the time to look up how to.
I myself happen to be guilty of making this error. I wholly admit that I just might be wrong [in guessing this], however, it's the best guess that I've got to offer from a semi-experienced standpoint.
If it's not what happened, then my bad. >_>;
I must admit that I'm getting increasingly annoyed with the fact it's been over three weeks since Monica posted the announcement and the apology on the LJ community and there hasn't been a word on the matter since then. Am I the only person feeling this way? :\

Thank you for sharing this. I haven't had a livejournal in two or three years now.
This was somewhat helpful...in a way. More or less speaking that the mods have some possibilities that they think might be up.

I have to agree But then again, she probably hasn't heard anything from Idaten so she hasn't been able to post anything. It sucks.

This is quite disheartening.

TimeErase mentioned Tsula, so I went to see if she knew what was wrong and found this note in her profile.
Quote: 9.6.09 - About FoS - Been meaning to put something on here about it, since I am sure everyone is wondering what is going on. It is down right now because one of the member's email accounts was reporting mail from the site as spam and the domain providers deactivated the account.
I don't know how the progress is going on it, but I am sure it will get sorted out soon enough. I was unable to help the current owner since I can't recall how to block a person through the domain website. :(

Okay. After seeing that, I did a bit of recon. According to the Whois information, they have the same website hosting provider as what I do. So I searched through my BackStage area to see how to ban someone.
I'm posting this here because I don't know where else to. (I'll post it in the community, too if it hasn't been already.)
Log into BackStage
Under My Websites, click on the domain (i.e. "fos-ff.net")
After being logged into SiteAdmin (automatic), click on "Web Site Tools" in the side bar
A drop-down menu will appear -- click on "IP Deny Manager" (the fourth item down.)
As long as you know the IP address of who (since I highly doubt this person has a domain) blocked the website and claimed them to be spam, then this method should work.
If not...then I'm just as lost as the next person. >_>;

It's relieving to know the site is getting sorted out though I am still working
on not screaming my lungs out at not being informed.
When the site does come back up I won't have time to be on at all since I've
managed to snag a decent job. So any updates on my stories will be dreadfully slow.

Confused. Thanks for the explanation...however...would someone mind translating it to laymen's terms? I don't understand computer jargon at all, and I want to know what happened.
Thanks much!

Basically, someone was receiving e-mails from FoS (which you can change the settings on e-mails received in your account management on the site when logged in) and instead of just deleting them or unsubscribing to the e-mails in their account settings they were marking them as spam. Whomever their e-mail provider was kept track of it and after a certain amount of spam notices, the host site/company of FoS was informed and took FoS down thinking the site was just a nasty spam site. (Like those awesome websites that send you e-mails about making your penis larger.)
Now Idaten has to go through and fix this issue by contacting the host site/company and explaining this situation as well as handling the person that was marking it as spam.
Seishi's post was a 'how to' for handling the person who was marking the site as spam (by blocking their IP address so they can no longer access it).
The 'how to' Seishi posted, however, is only functional if Seishi's site and FoS share the same host site/company as Seishi believes.
Does that make sense? o.0
